The Arboretum at Flagstaff was founded in 1981 as a private nonprofit organization under the official name “The Transition Zone Horticultural Institute.” While research was the original primary focus, over the years it has become known as a destination for local and out-of-town visitors who want to learn more about the native plants and animals found in northern Arizona.

Randi Axler

Finance Manager

Randi moved to Arizona in 1999 spending two years in Pinon,  Arizona on the Navajo Reservation before settling in Flagstaff.  Originally from suburban Philadelphia, with a B.S. Degree in Accounting and Finance, Randi was an analyst for a bank operations consulting firm for ten years.  Once settled in Flagstaff she decided to use the skills she already possessed supporting the missions of non-profit organizations.  She simultaneously worked part time for a community based arts organization, her family owned special education consulting business and served on several non-profit boards as treasurer.  Randi started at The Arboretum as the Finance Manager in January of 2012.

Since Randi has lived in Arizona she has developed a love of the outdoors that she did not have growing up in Pennsylvania.  She loves to hike the trails that surround her house with her husband, 2 sons and 2 dogs.  When Randi is not hiking the trails she is running on them.
