Environmental Education Intern
Rachel Esbjornson recently moved to Flagstaff from Ketchikan, Alaska to work as an environmental educator for the Arboretum through AmeriCorps. Rachel holds a B.A. in Environmental Studies from Pacific Lutheran University. Since graduating from college in 2008, Rachel has done a variety of work in the environmental and education fields. She has worked on organic farms, taught people about temperate rainforest and marine ecology as a trail and kayak guide, and provided academic tutoring and behavioral support to elementary students in the Ketchikan School District. Rachel is very happy to be with the Arboretum for a year and is thoroughly enjoying learning about the ecology of the Colorado Plateau and teaching others about this incredible region of the world.
