As Horticulturist, Katherine loves working at the intersection of people and plants and can think of no better place to do so than on the Colorado Plateau. Originally from Long Island, New York, Katherine fell in love with high desert landscapes as a Peace Corps volunteer in Morocco where she worked as a rural agriculture extension agent from 2000 to 2002. Katherine received her B.A. in English and Environmental Studies from Colby College in Maine in 1999 and an M.A. in Sustainable Communities from Northern Arizona University in 2012, also earning a certificate in permaculture design. In her free time you may catch Katherine in the garden with her chickens or doing her truly favorite thing with plants: cooking them!
