Workshops : Wild Mushroom Hunting 2011

This year The Arboretum and The Nature Conservancy will be offering a series of mushroom programs. The overnight retreat will return next year.

2011 Mushroom Hunting Programs:

  • Identifying Mushrooms: Friday, August 19, 5:00-6:00 PM (regular admission, FREE for Arboretum and Nature Conservancy members.) Learn the basics of mushroom hunting in northern Arizona Friday night during a PowerPoint presentation at The Arboretum.
  • Picnic and Foray: Saturday, August 20, 10:00 AM-2:00 PM ($35 members, $45 non-members) Hart Prairie is an ideal location to hunt for wild, edible mushrooms. Join us for a mushroom hunting foray at the Hart Prairie Preserve followed by a picnic featuring wild mushrooms.
  • Cooking Wild Mushrooms: Saturday, August 20, 6:00-8:30 PM ($45 members, $55 non-members) Find out what to do with your wild mushrooms at an evening cooking class at The Seasoned Kitchen led by Gay Chanler at the Seasoned Kitchen 6:00-8:30 p.m.
  • Instructors: Ed Smith (The Nature Conservancy) & Chef Gay Chanler
