Arbor Day: A Celebration of Trees

Activities
9:30 Join a professional arborist every hour on the half hour for a discussion and demonstration of Ponderosa tree care.
10:00 Director of Horticulture Mark Jarecki will lead a program on tree-planting. The class will emphasize proper tree selection and placement. All participants will have an opportunity to plant a tree in the gardens.
10:00-4:00 Children's hands-on craft activities
11:00, 1:00, & 3:00 Tour the gardens with a docent to learn about the best trees and shrubs for Flagstaff landscapes
12:00 & 2:00 Live Birds of Prey programs
12:00-2:00 Meet authors Judy Springer and Mark Daniels of "ERI Field Guide to Forest & Mountain Plants of Northern Arizona" for a book signing
3:00 Author of Keepers of the Windclaw Chronicles Seth Muller will read from the second book in the series due out in late April. The Day of Storms
3:00 Director of Horticulture Mark Jarecki will present a class on tree care including pruning, pest-control, and more. A hands-on demonstration will follow the classroom presentation.
All Arbor Day activities are FREE. Funds for this project were provided by the Urban and Community Forestry Financial Assistance Program administered through the State of Arizona Forestry Division - Urban & Community Forestry, and the USDA Forest Service.
