Registration now open for Arboretum Summer Adventure Programs.

FLAGSTAFF, March 8, 2010.  The Arboretum at Flagstaff is now registering children for the 2010 Summer Adventure Program.  Nature-themed camps are designed especially for children aged four through fourteen.  A maximum of twelve participants and two adult leaders will spend their time outdoors learning about plants, insects and animals native to northern Arizona.  Artist and naturalist Dr. Gwendolyn Waring is back this year to lead “Viewing Nature through an Artist’s Eyes”.  This week-long program will use the meadows, forest and wetlands at The Arboretum as artistic inspiration for works in pastel, pen & ink, paint, and sculpture. Visit the Arboretum website, www.thearb.org for detailed information about the Summer Adventure Programs.

For more information or to register call (928) 774 – 1442, ext. 123.  Space is limited.  Arboretum summer camps are generously supported by grants from Flagstaff P-12 Education Resources Fund through the Flagstaff Community Foundation, Flagstaff Cultural Partners, and the City of Flagstaff.

The Arboretum is a 200-acre botanical garden, research center, and nature preserve dedicated to educating the public about the plants and plant communities of the Colorado Plateau.  It is located four miles south of Route 66 on scenic Woody Mountain Road in West Flagstaff.
