SECTION 2                                                      High-elevation Cold Moist Habitat

This list is for the coldest areas in Flagstaff.  Use plants from this list for landscapes in areas in Zone 3 or colder (minimum temperature –40 degrees), at elevations above 7100’ and in other areas or microclimates with northern exposures, moist soils, cold drainages, open parks or cold and irrigated gardens.  Naturally occurring high-elevation cold moist habitats in Flagstaff include cold communities along Hwy. 180 north including Baderville, Ft. Valley, Hart Prairie, Snowbowl, cold drainages in Parks, and other moist, open parks with short growing seasons throughout the region (e.g. Munds Park).
