 2009 Summer Concert Series

The Arboretum presents, in partnership with Flagstaff Cultural Partners, regional performers with world music influences.  Summer Concerts will take place outdoors under the shade of the cool pines with a view of the San Francisco Peaks on the first Saturday of June, July, August, and September. 

All concerts take place from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.   Bring a picnic dinner and blanket or concert chairs. Beer and wine will be available for purchase.

June 6 - Boulder Acoustic Society

Boulder Acoustic Society is the new wave of American roots music. Their unique combination of world music, folk, gospel, indie, and blues is intense and exciting for listeners, with something new and interesting at every turn. The lineup of violin, accordion, bass, and percussion support sharp vocal hooks and powerful grooves. Boulder Acoustic Society is based out of Colorado.

July 4 - Rio Flamenco

Rio Flamenco offers an exciting performance which keeps the audience on the edge of their seats. Their show is a spicy mix of traditional flamenco dance and guitar, hot Latin rhythms, and singing.

August 1 - Nosotrosound

Nosotrosound immerses you in Latin-American cultures and music. They play a vast repertoire of rhythms, ranging from the mournful to the festive, performing tunes from Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina, Mexico, and more.

September 5 - The Fishtank Ensemble

The LA Weekly calls The Fishtank Ensemble "cross pollinated gypsy music....one of the most thrilling young acts on the planet." Formed in 2005 and playing everywhere from the hippest LA clubs to festivals and cultural centers, the band includes two explosive violins, the world's best slap bass player, musical saw, flamenco and gypsy jazz guitar, trombone, opera, jazz and gypsy vocals, accordion and one little banjolele.
